Al Stephen and Kathleen Henson

CHF Philippines National Director
Base: Manilla, Philippines

Al Stephen Henson was raised a pastor’s son in the Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Year-after-year, he sat through mission conferences, not imagining that one day it would be his family that would be serving on the other side of the world.

Al Stephen and Kathleen Henson

On May 28th, 2017 Al Stephen, his wife, Kathleen, and their two beautiful children, Gabriel (4) and Alina (3) arrived in Manilla, Philippines.

Their main mission is to build and lead the first Philippines Village of Hope with Compassionate Hope Foundation. They are praying for a multi-generational, culturally savvy, approach to serve the “least of these” in the Philippines. The Village of Hope will one day house hundreds of kids that, without it, would have no hope.

As technology advances, it has created new forms of slavery and human trafficking. In addition to rescuing and serving child victims of street trafficking, the Philippines Village of Hope will provide safe and healing facilities for victims of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC).

Cyber trafficking victims have unique needs, as they tend to be quite young. In addition to providing direct care and counseling, Compassionate Hope is working together with International Justice Mission (IJM) to develop best practices and pioneering new tools for shelters handling cyber trafficking cases.

Please continue to pray for this project as they seek to set a new standard of quality in helping the “least of these” while doing so with an authenticity that honors God and makes His love undeniable.

Please Pray With Us For:

  • SAFETY – because we are living in an area of Manilla that puts us at higher risk because we are American and are automatically seen as wealthy.

  • HEALTH – With a dense population that is equivalent to New York City, most of the population does not understand the relationship between cleanliness and illnesses like colds, diarrhea and flu. This is a recurring challenge/issue.

  • TRANSITION – for Gabriel into school, and language skills for the kids and Al Stephen. Kathleen already knows the language.

  • THE LEAST OF THESE – For the kids we will be rescuing and the construction of the Village of Hope..

  • FAVOR – For quick and smooth approvals from Government for projects and social welfare to allow kids in our homes.
